Comprehensive Hazardous Waste Management and Fill Material Export

Demolition and Redevelopment of Commercial/Light Industrial Facility
Philadelphia, PA

RESPG characterized and disposed of hazardous waste encountered during the demolition of a commercial/light industrial building in Center City Philadelphia, then managed the export of fill materials and soils prior to the construction of a new structure at the site.

The hazardous waste materials at the site included acids, flammable paints and solvents, petroleum products, and maintenance chemicals. REPSG also removed all liquids from various aboveground storage tanks and drained the hydraulic elevator tanks and pistons and cleaned all tanks and in preparation for demolition. REPSG transported and disposed of transformers and switch gear containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and also purged the building systems of refrigerants. All materials were properly disposed of or recycled. After demolition activities were complete, REPSG provided PA Clean Fill characterization sampling and reporting, as the site development called for the export of over 30,000 cubic yards of material. REPSG then transported and disposed all materials that did not qualify as clean fill, including over 4,500 cubic yards of residual waste and regulated fill materials, at properly licensed disposal and recycling facilities.
