Site Remediation at Former Bulk Oil Storage Facility
Remedial Soil Excavation
Union County, NJ
REPSG completed remedial soil excavation as part of a larger remedial project at a former bulk oil storage facility associated with a historic oil refinery. For this project REPSG worked closely with multiple entities, including the lead consultant/contractor, site management, local and state permitting agencies, and local labor unions. The scope of work included soil excavation at 12 distinct areas of the site, stockpile management, loading/unloading of material and coordination with designated waste disposal facilities. These remedial excavations were complicated by the presence of residual LNAPL (light non-aqueous phase liquid) and also due to the multiple subsurface water, electric, natural gas, compressed air, storm water, sanitary sewer, laboratory waste sewer and steam lines present at the areas to be excavated. REPSG successfully completed the scope of work without incident and within the allotted project timeframe, allowing the larger remedial project to stay on schedule.
